The Hare Krsna’s

Lord Sri Krsna by Muralidhara dasa

It seems that I don’t spend as much time on my desktop computer surfing the web, as I used to. I guess that is because I spend more time on my phone. But this morning I thought I would revisit some of the old sites I used to frequent. One such site that I visited this morning was “the Hare Krsnas“.

I found there was some very good information on this site particularly in the section on Philosophy and Spiritual Practice

There is a lot of useful information here, and direct quotes by Srila Prabhupada from his letters, conversations, books and lectures.

I appreciate all time and effort it took, being a fellow web master myself, to put all this information together in an attractive format. It might be worth a look.

The Holy Name Is All There Is

Hare Krishna mantra

I have been going through my older files of late, and ran across this fine article posted by Hansadutta Prabhu some years ago on his site Krsna World.

Although Srila Prabhupada wrote many books, he one day asked me, “So why did I write all these books?” I said, “So we can know the philosophy, learn the philosophy.” He said, “No, the purpose of all these books is to convince you to chant the holy name of Krishna.”

Chanting is exactly like the simple method of inhaling and exhaling. Although it seems like a very simple act, it is nevertheless the essence of the whole thing. Without that inhaling and exhaling, none of the other activities can take place. We also understand that no one simply inhales and exhales, but all the other activities are supportive of the inhaling and exhaling.

Ratha-yātrā

Srila Prabhupada at Ratha Yatra

…So if we want to have eternal life, full of knowledge and blissfulness, then we must take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Our, this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is the greatest welfare activities in the human society. We are giving information to every man, without any discrimination of cast, creed, or color, that every human being especially, not only human being, all living entities, including the animals, beasts, birds, trees, aquatics—everyone—they can achieve to the highest perfection of life by this Kṛṣṇa consciousness. But especially the extra intelligence of the human being can be utilized to realize Kṛṣṇa. If we don’t do that, we are missing a great opportunity. So our request to everyone is to understand this philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. (Ratha-yātrā Lecture, June 27, 1971, San Francisco)
